Overnight Winter Parking Ban Update: February 26, 2027
Reminder: The overnight winter parking ban remains in effect until further notice. Given the severity of recent storms, roadside snow piles limiting space, and to ensure smooth operations for snow removal and our public safety vehicles, the overnight winter parking ban will remain in effect beyond the previously announced end date of March 1. A new end date will be announced at a future time. We appreciate everyone’s understanding. Please visit Overnight Winter Parking Ban page for available off-street parking locations available to use overnight.
Residential Snow & Ice Removal Update: February 24, 2026 at 6:50 PM
In the aftermath of this week’s storm, which added over a foot of snow onto the existing snowbanks left over from the significant storm in January, we understand the extremely challenging conditions residents are facing to comply with the residential snow and ice removal ordinance. Given this, for the time being, the City will not be strictly enforcing the ordinance against residential properties. However, we would like to share a few notes of encouragement with residents:
- Please continue to shovel your sidewalks, but do not overexert yourself, take frequent breaks, and be safe while doing so.
- Be neighborly! Help neighbors with snow clearance, share equipment and supplies, and check in on each other. Small gestures can go a long way.
- We appreciate any help you provide to clear snow around fire hydrants, catch basins, and ADA detectable warning strips. It helps everyone in our city.
- Please do not shovel or blow snow into the streets.
We understand the challenging conditions this storm brought to Watertown and encourage everyone to be neighborly, be safe, and be patient as snow and ice are cleared.
