If you are looking for a way to donate your furniture and other home goods to a new home, ReSupply, a Boston-based & Veteran-operated company, provides high service fee-based home pickup option. ReSupply works with local charities to give your unwanted furniture and household goods a second life. ReSupply will go into the home, go up and down stairs, and even disassemble items if needed! Residents receive a tax credit for their donation as well.

Note: The COVID-19 Pandemic has impacted many charities' hours and ability to accept certain items. Please check their websites or call for more information.

Baby & Children's Clothes, Cribs & Highchairs

  • The Wish Project provides clothes, linens, furniture and household items for low-income clients from more than 91 non-profit agencies in the Merrimack Valley, including families moving out of shelters.
  • Solutions at Work accepts used children's and baby clothes and other items for families in need. Call 617-576-0039.

Women's & Men's Professional Clothing

  • Solutions at Work accepts donations of used professional clothing for both men and women seeking employment. Call 617-576-0039.
  • Dress for Success provides career attire to low-income women seeking employment. Accepts donations of used professional clothing items and accessories that are in good condition. Call 617-323-7544.

Books

The Watertown Free Public Library accepts gently used items for re-sale.

The Library Building Committee (LBC) manages the bookstore in the Red Leaf Café to raise funds for library programs, resources, and services. The bookstore sells $2 hardcovers, $1 paperbacks, 50¢ children's hardcovers, and 25¢ children’s paperbacks.

The bookstore gratefully accepts donations of gently used books. No DVDs, CDs, VHS tapes, encyclopedias, dictionaries, old computer books, textbooks, magazines, or periodicals please. Book donations can be dropped off in the hallway near the Watertown Savings Bank room. Please check in at the Circulation Desk for details.

Building Materials

  • Habitat for Humanity accepts gently used and surplus cabinets, appliances, furniture, building materials and supplies. Goods are sold in their Billerica ReStore, earning money to build affordable housing.
  • Boston Building Resources (formerly the Building Materials Resource Center) accepts good quality used and surplus building materials. Save on disposal fees and earn tax deductions. Call 617-442-2262 to schedule a pick-up.

Vehicles

Many non-profit organizations accept donated vehicles. The person donating the vehicle also gets a tax deduction.
